Representative Ken Buck (CO-04) appeared on Fox News Saturday morning to commend President Trump in his fight to increase the stimulus check payments to $2,000—but not without House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stripping the bill of its “pork projects.”

“I am absolutely in favor of giving the American people $2,000. I think it’s the right move. I think the President is absolutely right,” Buck said. “But that’s only part of what the President is suggesting.”

Recalling the last attempted stimulus bill, Buck said Pelosi forced the 5,593-page bill through Congress without giving anyone a chance to read it because she “stuffed this bill full of pork.”

“If she strips the pork, if she stops giving her pet projects in the United States and overseas this money, she will get Republican support,” Buck said. “If Nancy Pelosi does that, I think she will get overwhelming Republican support—she will certainly have my support.”

Buck clarified that he will not vote for an increase in COVID checks to $2,000 if the extra “pork” remains in the bill.

The Congressman listed some of the pet projects: funding museums for women’s history, social engineering projects in Pakistan, and funding a panel to examine succession of the Dalai Lama.

“Just to add a $2,000 payment instead of a $600 payment to the pork that’s in the bill is just unacceptable,” he said.
