Report: After Ratings Plummet, Desperate NASCAR Tries a Shameless Trick to Try and Woo Back Angry Fans
NASCAR is up a creek without a paddle right now.
They’re really in a mess, and it’s a mess of their own making.
After an absolute sh*t show spectacle with that arrogant jerk Bubba Wallace who claimed (before the investigation was complete) that he was the victim of a “hate crime” after some “supposed racist hick” left a noose in his garage.
NASCAR didn’t have the common sense or respect for their fans to wait until the incident was investigated properly – they just took off running with their Social Justice wings flapping in the wind.
For a couple of days NASCAR turned into “Black Lives Matter Jr.,” and treated Bubba Wallace – a subpar driver, by the way – like the second coming of Christ himself. It was an absurd spectacle that made their fan base sick.
And when those fans, who didn’t appreciate being passive-aggressively called “racist,” didn’t buy into Bubba’s story, he went on “The View” and called his doubters “simple-minded.
Nice…now they’re “simple hick racists.” Thanks, Bubba
As we all know now, there was no “hate crime,” and now NASCAR is left standing there with a dozen eggs splattered on its face.
So, what’s a race car org to do?
I know…Do a massive PR-blitz focusing on a driver people actually like, who will be driving in a Trumped-out race car!
Nice trick NASCAR, but your fans aren’t stupid…they deserve Trump cars, flags, and an APOLOGY.
NASCAR Cup Series driver Corey LaJoie will run the No. 32 car with a “Trump 2020” paint scheme during Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Patriots of America, a political action committee supporting President Trump’s reelection bid, is sponsoring Go Fas Racing’s No. 32 car for nine races through NASCAR’s 2020 season. The Ford Mustang will feature a red, white and blue color scheme and Trump 2020 banner.
“With an estimated 75 million NASCAR fans out there, I was surprised that about 15 million of those fans are not registered voters,” LaJoie said in a statement. “I will give my best effort to get NASCAR fans registered to vote, through our team efforts on and off the track. When they see the car, hopefully it makes them race to the polls in November.”
The Brickyard 400, also known as the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 at the Brickyard, is set to feature a number of patriotic color schemes. Patriots of America previously sponsored a Trump-themed car in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series.
“I am honored to be part of the President’s re-election campaign through the Patriots of America PAC,” Go Fas Racing team owner Archie St. Hilaire said in a statement. “As a Trump 2020 supporter, this team will do everything possible to secure victory on and off the track electing President Donald Trump to a second term. Let us bring this country back and Keep America Great!”
This year’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway will unfold as NASCAR recovers from the incident in which a garage door pull fashioned as a noose was discovered in driver Bubba Wallace’s garage at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. After an investigation, FBI officials determined the incident was not a hate crime and that the noose had been in the garage since last fall.
Look, we love the push and the message and the “drive” (pun intended) to get people registered…and we want Trump promoted…But that’s not the point here.
The point is that NASCAR is treating their fans like bumpkin idiots – and they’re not bumpkin idiots…not even close.
Instead of skimming over what happened and just pushing out “Pro-Trump” news, what they should do is apologize for what happened. Admit they overreacted, and created a spectacle. Say they’re sorry for insinuating that their fans are racist scumbags, and make Bubba Wallace apologize for calling anyone who doubted him “simple-minded.”
Because all those “simple-minds” were 100% right.
